Eating at Spaghetti Grill, Paradigm Mall

I think I really tried out a lot of new thing recently. This time I went Spaghetti Grill. I saw the shop for thousands time whenever I went shopping, but this is the 1st time I visited and ate inside. Good place for western food and cheap price during weekday. 

They have promotion for lunch and dinner during weekdays. Forgot the price, but you can get main dish, drink and dessert together for that promotion. 

This is the food I ordered. 


This is the pumpkin soup. Taste sweet, but nice when taking together with the biscuit. 


This is my main dish, seafood spaghetti. The waiter said the portion size for the promotion set is half of the normal standard meal size, but for me, this is just nice, not too much, not too little. 


Well, my friend ordered differently. She likes savoury dishes, so she chose mushroom soup for the appetizer.  


This is her main dish, Vegetarian Aglio Olio. This is nice as well. 


We also ordered Caesar salad to add on more vegetables on our meals. Tell you what, this is really nice!!! We love this very much. 

At last, here's our desserts, vanilla ice cream!


I would like to visit there again some other day. Nice place!

饮食治疗师的意见 - 罗马不是一天建成的


我没去过罗马,但我看见了罗马的宏伟。。。

《罗马不是一天建成的》,相信大家都听过。。可正真明白它的意义的,又有多少人呢?

在医院工作,能让人见识更广,在医院看见的事物也很多,仿佛所有的人生情景都在医院上演。

想想也是,在医院都逃不过生老病死,婴孩出生时、生病住院时、受伤住院时、年老多病时、临死边缘时、人生末路时等等。

每当开始教育一些三高(高血糖、高血压、高胆固醇)病人有关饮食的控制时,都会听到很多的借口,例如:

1。 我已经活了几十年,哪可能这么容易就改得了几十年的习惯?

2。人生短短几十年,要控制饮食,岂不是没有了人生乐趣?

3。不是你需要控制饮食,你可说得倒简单。

各式各类的借口都可以从病人口中说出,可能疾病缠身,心情不好,说话也就不分轻重了吧?

其实应该要想想,罗马不是一天建成的,身体会变差,三高会出现,也不是一天造成的。这都是一点一点、长期的不均衡饮食习惯所导致而成的慢性疾病。

疾病不是一朝一夕的事情,尤其是三高的问题,所衍生出来的后果是你所想像不到的。

高血糖的情况通常来自于长期过量的糖份摄取,以至于产生各种并发症,例如:眼睛血管问题,视网膜病变 (retinopathy),肾病 (nephropathy),神经系统的问题 (neuropathy),等等。

高血压的形成通常来自于过量的盐份摄取,而高胆固醇则因为过量的油脂摄取,导致血压升高,血管硬化的问题,一并提高病人患心血管疾病 (cardiovascular diseases) 的风险。心血管疾病包括了心脏病,心脏阻塞,中风等疾病。

大马以美食著名,但也由于大马人长期营养过剩的饮食习惯,大马的慢性疾病的成长率也跟着增加,三高的情况越来越普遍。

三高的问题是日积月累得来的,那如果要控制饮食也不是一朝一夕可以做成的。控制饮食也需要时间,以让体重能慢慢下降,改善三高、慢性疾病的问题。

如果有病人说:我已经活了几十年,哪可能这么容易就改得了几十年的习惯?,那我只想对他说:你的问题纠结就是因为几十年的饮食问题所造成的,如果还想多活几十年,饮食改变是必定的,罗马不是一天建成的,几十年的问题,当然需要几十年的时间解决,请不要妄想能迅速达成!

不过,到目前为止,我还不曾这样跟病人说,因为这样说好像有点调侃病人的感觉,嘻嘻!

La Risata

La Risata, a place for Italian food. 

This place is located at 128 Jalan Kasah, Medan Damansara, 50490 Kuala Lumpur. 


cannot understand Italian? well, me too.. no worry.. the menu will state out some brief information about the food itself 


How's the ambience there? Not bad, huh??? (sorry about the blurry photo)

Gnocchi Ai Peperonchini Grillia E Chorizo

This is the food I ordered. Gnocchi Ai Peperonchini Grillia E Chorizo, what a long name for this food...  In simpler way, it's potato dumplings with lamb chorizo sausage and ricotta cheese in red pepper sauce. 
Is it really simple that way? it's still a long name, isn't it?

I don't really fancy this food, well, not suitable for me, I think. An advice for all, don't ever order something that you do not know. It is too risky, unless you dare enough to face the consequences. Haha.. 

I'm still able to finish the whole thing, end up with bloated stomach, as the dumpling is too filling. 

Spaghetti Alla Risata 
This is the spaghetti my friend ordered. I like this, this is their house specialty, mixed seafood in tomato sauce and baked in foil. All sorts of seafood is found inside, portion is HUGE!!!

Stinco D'agnello

This is Stinco D'agnello, wood fired oven braised lamb shank in a rosemary sauce on a bed of mashed potato. Well, I just copy the description in the menu. Nice name!

Those are all the so called artistic photo my friend took for me, not too bad, huh?  


The lamb shank really look nice, I didn't get the chance to taste it, but from my friend's response, I know this must taste good. Argh... I should order this!

Apple Citrus Soda
Apple citrus soda, a mixture of monin green apple, lime syrup, lemon juice, diced apple and soda. Taste sweet and sour. My friend loves this, for me, it's just so-so. 


Last but not least, I must show you the photo my friend finished her spaghetti. Haha... She kept complaining about the big portion of the food, but she's still able to finish the whole thing as well. 

Well, we don't waste food!!! haha...  

For those who haven't give it a try, please visit La Risata, but make sure to read the menu properly, I'm sure you all don't want to end up ordering something you don't like, isn't it?

Roll Pie Cake - Japanese pumpkin pastry

I was given this Roll Pie Cake by my colleague who visited Japan last time. 

Due to language barrier, I do not know what is all the labelling talking about.


But I was told this is a pumpkin pastry. It tastes nice, not so sweet as I was expecting.

Feels like want to travel suddenly, to relieve tension and to taste good food out there.

去大港喝喜酒 Wedding dinner at Sungai Besar

上个星期去了大港参加婚宴,大家知道大港吗?它离吉隆坡市中心大约两个小时,是个小小的渔港。 

婚宴在大港港口的民众礼堂进行。



看看请帖,特别吧?下午五点就让来宾入席,当天酒席六点就开始了,早吧?至少你在吉隆坡不会看到如此早的酒席。我可是第一次参加渔港的酒席。


 让大家看看大港酒席的菜肴,不错吧? 




这可不是鱼翅喔,这是没有鱼翅的海鲜羹。

大港出名海鲜,鲜鱼是必备的,这是咖喱蒸银鲳!



接下来是猪手,再伴小馒头。


下面这个是一道满特别的食物,我不知道应该称之为菜肴还是甜点,因为它尝起来甜甜的,很特别,很好吃!


这是南瓜盅,里面有白果和芋泥,很香!听说这是潮州人的美食,而这美食却是当之无愧,真的真的太好吃了!不要问我它的名字,因为我不知道,我只管它叫南瓜盅,嘻嘻!反正有美食,咱们就品尝!

最后,当然是甜点,这是主人家自己准备的,很有心吧!

怎样?特别吧?这里供应的碗筷都是经过消毒的,而且还有保鲜膜包着,够卫生了吧?还很特别!哈哈!

由于酒席在礼堂举行,你可以清楚的看到外面的风景,也包括夕阳!


这大港的婚宴酒席真的特别,由于早开席的关系,你能在享受美食的当儿,欣赏夕阳。不过,坏处就是早开席,结果我吃不下,六点就开始吃了,也真的太早了。本小姐的晚餐时间七点或八点才正式开始啦!哈哈!

不过,这就是大港港口的特别!!!

What??? What member card??? Oh my!!! I didn't know anything about this, I don't even know they actually have member cards!

Well, guess some of you might already noticed about this, but this is really my 1st time heard of it. I think Nando's don't really promote it properly.   blaming the Nando's because of my own insensitivity, still in denial stage to believe they have member card, haha...

Nando's again!!!

Went out again with my buddy, she felt like want to eat Nando's, so here we are... Nando's again!

We are being introduced with Nando's Meal Platter which meant for 2 person to share together. Well, according to the waiter, it's more worthy compare to order 2 set of 1/4 chicken with 2 drinks. 

So, we tried out new thing! (is it really new thing? the chicken is still the same, isn't it?)


The meal platter consists of 1 whole chicken, 2 side dishes and free flow drinks. Quite a large portion for 2 little girls, right?


Here is the chicken. We are allowed to order two different flavour of chicken. I ordered mild peri-peri and my friend ordered hot peri-peri.


We both love the new side dish -- Side Salad very much, well, the name is Side Salad. It's mixed lettuce with Italian salad sauce. It is refreshing to take something light for the side dish while taking 1/2 chicken alone. We don't like the sweet potato, may be it's too heavy to take it together with such a big portion of chicken. Shouldn't order that at the 1st place.

One of Dietitian‘s requirement

One of the requirement to become dietitian -- try to get enough pen for documentationsssssss! 

I used up my pen ink very fast recently, may be due to increased number of referrals in the hospital. 

Today check on my census for amount of patients seen for March, the number is growing, growing out of sudden, no wonder feel like very tired for the whole month. huh... 

Increased number of referrals, which mean that the number of patients is increased. 

Most of the patients being referred to dietitian are those who suffered from chronic diseases, such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol problems. 

Malaysian, try to behave, especially when it's about diet intake and lifestyle. Even the youngsters have increased risk to have chronic diseases. 

Never has a thought that if you are young, you won't suffer from all these disease. That's wrong! I don't know about the number worldwide, but the number in my census already shows everything. It's time for a change! I don't really wish to see you all in the hospital. 


成为饮食治疗师的其中一个要点是必须准备足够的钢笔,用来写下病人的资料和饮食治疗方法。 

最近我笔的墨水用得比较快,难道是医院病人多了?

今天查了查 3 月份的 census, 发现到上个月的病人人数真的增长了,病人突然多了,难怪总觉得三月份过得很累... 

饮食治疗师的病人多了,无疑是饮食的问题。大多的病人都患有三高,那就是高血糖,高血压,以及高胆固醇。

大马人民,请记得控制你们的饮食和生活方式,现在的疾病都有逐渐年轻化的情况,还真的不要以为年轻就是本钱,我医院就有很多很年轻但就患有三高的病人。我不清楚全世界的年轻、三高的病患人数有多少,但我的每月病人总数却逐年增加。看来真的是时候注意自己的饮食习惯了,我可不希望在医院遇见各位!

Dietitian - Introduction

I noticed that one of my post will come out in the list when google it. That surprises me, coz it mean that not much people is writing about it.

SPM and STPM results are just reveal recently, and I believed many students out there are busy searching information about courses to be taken in the future. Well, I think may be I can share a little bit about my job here, so that more people get to know it. I still remember during the time I chose my course, I didn't really understand what is it all about. May be a little bit of sharing can help the others.

I had posted one blog Dietitian Vs Nutritionist which I share about the difference of dietitian and nutritionist.

Well, so what is Dietitian all about? What does dietitian study about?

Principles of Nutrition
Basic Pharmacology

These are the subjects to be taken during my time, I don't know whether there is any changes nowadays. But I do believe they won't simply change the core subjects.

All the thing that we learn from dietetics is basically about diet and diet therapy. They are all about how the diet and disease relates to each other, how to eat healthily, how to improve nutritional status and how to prevent and treat nutrition-related disease.

I always say this : If doctor prescribes medication for patients, then dietitian provides diet menu and education for patients. Easy for people to understand what a dietitian is doing.

Apart from learning the diet therapy, we need to learn about how to modify menu and food as well. There is one subject I like the most --- Therapeutic Diet Preparation. In this subject, we learn about the theory behind all the diet therapy and we modify the food or menu accordingly, and PREPARE it!!! Yes, it is like Master Chef, interesting and challenging!

Cannot get it? Well, a simple example here, we know that curry with coconut milk is not so suitable for those who have high cholesterol due to high saturated fat inside the coconut milk. So we need to think of ways to reduce or modify the curry so that curry intake can be continued. 

You can choose to reduce the coconut milk amount, that is the most direct way, but meanwhile, you can choose the replace the coconut milk with low fat milk. What I did was, I changed the coconut milk into asam keping in order to control the saturated fat intake and to improve the taste of the curry. 

After the cooking session (yeah, you need to cook it), there will be a session for food tasting for evaluation purpose. Well, you still need to make sure the taste can be accepted by public after all the modification, right?

This one is vegetarian high protein diet if I am not mistaken, tauhu as main dish, peanut in the soup, and 1 glass of milk. 

This therapeutic diet preparation is only one of the subjects to be taken in dietetics course. Some people might be asking this question : I don't know how to cook. Can I be dietitian? The answer is YES! This subject is to equip yourself with the knowledge of therapeutic diet and diet modification so that you can share with your patients in future.

饮食治疗师 a.k.a Dietitian - 介绍篇 Introduction

最近无意间发现到如果 Google 饮食治疗师,我的其中一个部落格会出现在 Google 的首页。看来还蛮少人写关于饮食治疗师,要不然哪有那么容易网上搜索到。

再加上最近成绩放榜了,看来大家都应该忙着寻找各自理想课程及科系的资料。其他科系我还不一定能帮上什么忙,但医药护理之类的科系多多少少还能帮上一点,当然,最在行的还是本身的专业——饮食治疗师,可以和大家分享分享,让大家能有一些头绪。

就像我之前的部落格就已经和大家分享了一些有关饮食治疗师和营养师的区别。大家可以搜索饮食治疗师 与 营养师,查询我的一些小小分享。

这篇就和大家分享饮食治疗师的科系,到底读些什么?

看得眼花缭乱?不用担心,简单来说,都是些有关健康饮食,食物营养,疾病,以及疾病的预防及治疗,当然,这里提及的‘疾病的预防及治疗’并和药理无关。给药的是医生,派药的是药剂师,饮食治疗师则帮病人控制饮食,所以饮食治疗师不会联合药剂师,把药放进食物里。这可是很多病人的误会,他们都以为我们会把药放进食物,让他们不知不觉中吃下去,本人在此说明,我们不会这么做!

这是我之前的科系课程,现在变成怎样就不得而知了。但怎么变都好,饮食治疗总会是这科系的核心。

除了必须学习饮食以及病情的控制,还必须学习如何改良食谱,以便能改良病人的饮食习惯。Therapeutic diet preparation 就是一堂学习改良食谱的课。首先必须学习 theory ,然后就要去厨房实践,把你所改良的食谱煮出来,整个过程就好像参加 master chef 一样,紧张刺激!

不明白?好吧,给个例子。椰浆是很高油脂的食物,但用椰浆煮出来的食物却很多,咖喱就是其中之一。咖喱大多用椰浆来烹调,但对于有高胆固醇,肥胖的人,油脂的摄取却必须控制。但如果还想吃咖喱,就必须减少椰浆的摄取。

那就需要想办法如何有效的减少,控制椰浆的摄取,同时,并不影响咖喱的口感和味道。健康的食物并不一定不好吃,就是从这堂课领悟出来的。

你可以选择直接减少椰浆的份量,也能用低脂牛奶来替代椰浆。我则利用 asam keping 来替代椰浆。煮出来的食物会被老师同学评价,有问提就改进,当然评价并不像 master chef 一样,这里评论的是食谱的改良和食物的接受程度,总不能改良得好,但入不了口。

这个 spaghetti 的酱料是利用番茄制成,而不是超市在卖的罐装加工的番茄酱。

高蛋白素食餐
如果没有弄错,这应该是高蛋白素食餐,里面有豆腐,有牛奶。

这只是饮食治疗科系的其中一个课程,大家别以为饮食治疗师是厨师,只专门准备食物。当然,肯定还有人会想:我不会烹饪,还可以成为饮食治疗师吗?答案是可以,没问题!因为这只是让学生们更加了解食谱的改良与烹饪,好让你们能够对病人的餐饮加以改良。
